All FAQs
What exactly is a green home loan?+
A green home loan is a way of spreading the cost of home energy improvements — such as solar panels, battery storage or an air source heat pump — over time, rather than paying the full amount upfront. Loans available, subject to status. A representative example is provided with any quote.
Do I have to take out finance to get a quote?+
No. We arrange no-obligation surveys and quotes for paid installations whether or not you intend to use finance. A quote includes a representative finance example, but paying directly is also an option.
Will you quote me an interest rate or loan amount?+
Not on this website. We do not quote interest rates, loan amounts or "interest-free" deals. A representative example is provided with any quote so you can see what spreading the cost could look like for your specific installation.
Do you offer grants or funding schemes?+
No. We quote for paid installations only and do not mention grants, funding schemes or discounted products. We never use the word "free" — we quote for paid installations only.
Is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme available in Scotland?+
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is available in England and Wales only, so we do not mention it on this website. We arrange quotes for paid installations of solar panels, battery storage and air source heat pumps in Scotland.
What does 0% VAT mean for me?+
Until 31 March 2027, the UK government applies 0% VAT on the installation of solar panels, battery storage and air source heat pumps in residential properties. Your quote shows the VAT treatment clearly. After that date, VAT rules may change.
What does MCS-certified mean?+
MCS is the Microgeneration Certification Scheme — a recognised quality standard for renewable technology installations in the UK. We install through MCS-certified partners.
Do you carry out the installation yourselves?+
We arrange the survey and quote. Installation is carried out by our MCS-certified partner.
Am I under any obligation by requesting a quote?+
No. Surveys and quotes are provided with no obligation. You can decide in your own time whether to proceed, and there is no pressure at any stage.
What information do you need for a quote?+
Your name, phone number, email, postcode and what you are interested in — solar panels, battery storage, an air source heat pump or a combination. A surveyor then visits to assess your home before a quote is prepared.
Can I get solar panels and battery storage together?+
Yes. Combining solar with battery storage is common, as it lets you store surplus generation for use when generation is low. A surveyor advises on whether it suits your property.
Can an air source heat pump replace my gas or oil boiler?+
An air source heat pump provides heating and hot water using electricity and can replace gas or oil boilers in many homes. A surveyor carries out a heat loss assessment to confirm suitability and size the system correctly.
Do you cover all of Scotland?+
Yes. We arrange surveys and quotes across Scotland, from the Borders to the Highlands and Islands. Survey timing varies by region — see our Areas Covered page for more detail.
